Ok Ok Petra gave it away… but don’t let Petra the great distract you from discovering all the other wonderful parts of Jordan.
Jordan officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is an Arab country. It shares control of the Dead Sea with Israel. Much of Jordan is covered by desert, particularly the Arabian Desert; however the north-western area, with the Jordan River, is regarded as part of the Fertile Crescent. During its history, Jordan has seen numerous civilizations, including Hebrew and later Israelite tribes of Menasseh, Gad, and Reuben. Currently travel advisory remains high for terrorist activity.
Famous, Historical and Spiritual sights:
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, 402 meters below sea level, located near the river Jordan
Wadi Rum is a desert full of mountains and hills located south of Jordan. Popular for its sights in addition to a variety of sports that are practices there, such as rock climbing. Also know n for its association with Lawrence of Arabia.
Muwakir was the hilltop stronghold of Herod the Great. Upon Herod’s death, his son Herod Antipas inhabited the fortress and ordered John the Baptist to be beheaded there.
Aqaba is a town on the shore of the Gulf of Aqaba with numerous shopping centers, hotels and access to water sports, also mentioned in Aladdin.
According to the final chapter of Deuteronomy, Mount Nebo is where the Hebrew prophet Moses was given a view of the promised land that God was giving to the Jews. "And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho." (Deuteronomy 34:1). According to Jewish and Christian tradition, Moses was buried on this mountain by God Himself, and his final resting place is unknown
Petra - a top travel destination & one of the world wonders, and famous for its history as well as being in prominent films such as Transformers, the Mummy and Indiana Jones. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1 km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80 mtr high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colors and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (Treasury).
